So we decided to give a little to time to compare the features of the latest sensation on the market, the ‘Samsung Galaxy Nexus’ and the upcoming Droid 4.

Droid 4 Vs Galaxy Nexus

Motorola and Verizon have claimed that the Droid 4 is the thinnest QWERTY-Touch smartphone in the market with the dimensions 127 x 67.3 x 12.7 mm; whereas the dimensions of the Galaxy Nexus are 135.5 x 67.9 x 8.9 mm. In this extra 3.8mm thickness, the Droid 4 supports a fully functional 5-row QWERTY keypad which is really unbelievable.

The Motorola Droid 4 has a 4 inches wide TFT Capacitive touchscreen. The Galaxy Nexus beats this with its new super AMOLED fully capacitive touchscreen which is a full 0.65mm wider than the Droid 4.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has only a 5MP camera, whereas the Motorola Droid 4 has an edge over the Galaxy Nexus with an 8MP rear camera. However, both the devices can record at 1080p with the rear camera and 720p with the front camera.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Motorola Droid 4 are powered by a Dual-Core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 processor and have 1GB RAM. The difference in the processing speed is due to the use of a different chipset in both the devices and the different operating systems. The Droid 4 has a TI OMAP 4430 chipset which can only utilize the processing speed up to 1 GHz whereas the Galaxy Nexus 4 has a TI OMAP 4460 chipset which utilizes the processor up to a full 1.2 GHz. The Galaxy Nexus comes with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS which further enhances the speed of the device and provides it with more functionality.

Both the Motorola Droid 4 & the Samsung Galaxy Nexus operate on the Android Platform but still there is a huge difference between the operating systems they work on. Motorola Droid 4 works on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread whereas the Galaxy Nexus is the first smartphone to support the Android 4.0 OS, the ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’. This new version of the Android OS is designed to enhance the functionality of the device and its compatibility with all other platforms.

The Motorola Droid 4 which is yet to be released has 4G LTE connectivity and supports speeds up to HSPA+42. On the other hand the Samsung Galaxy Nexus lags behind the Droid 4 in Internet speeds as it only supports the 3G network and gets an internet speed of up to 21Mbps.

Although at present it is a very rare possibility to actually see the 42Mbps speed on the Droid 4 as the 4G network is still not completely developed but even if it gets the half of it, it will provide the user with an extraordinary experience of browsing and downloading.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus comes in two models, one with 16GB internal storage and the other with 32GB internal storage. It has no slot for a MicroSD card which means it has fixed amount of storage and once bought cannot be extended. On the other hand the Motorola Droid 4 has an internal storage of 16GB and has an extendable memory of up to 32GB.

The Droid 4 use a Lithium Ion 1785 mAh battery and has a standby time of approximately 204 hours and a talk time of up to 12 hours and 30 minutes. Even the new OS Android 4.0 in the Galaxy Nexus has in-built functionality to save battery time. More about the Droid 4 can only be said after it has been released and actually used and tested by the customers.

There is no doubt that Motorola Droid 4 has everything that is required to possibly be the best smartphone in the market but it also depends on your personal preferences. If you are looking for a high processing speed and a fast response time than the Samsung Galaxy Nexus suits your needs but for people who prefer a smartphone which has both touchscreen and keypad functionality and enjoy a high internet speed than the Droid 4 is what you are looking for.
