HCL ME U1 Android ICS 4.0.3 Tablet Launched in India At Price 7,999 INR, Release Date Slated April

India-based IT Enterprise HCL launches ME U1 tablet for just 7,999 INR. According to the company their new education-oriented device will be launched this month targeting students primarily. HCL ME U1 will be released operating on Android 4.0.3 ICS. In the first quarter alone, India has seen a lot of low-priced with fairly good specs tablets. The government has always been welcoming these technologies in a bid to educate the youth as far as technology is concerned. The government’s vision is to put a tablet on every student’s hand just to make them aware of the importance of technology in their studies. And so, both local and international manufacturers put India on the top of their list of the places where cheaper tablets will be a hit. Now, let’s try to look inside this tablet and see if it is worth its price.

HCL ME U1 ICS Tablet Specs

As far as display is concerned, this tablet will not be left behind with its 7 inches with 800 x 400 pixels resolution and capacitive touch screen display. For a tablet, a 7-inch display would always be appreciate as it is not so small that you would have a hard time taking notes and it is not bigger to become bulky either. It only has one camera in front and it only has 0.3 megapixels. This is surely a letdown if this tablet will used for shooting pictures. But it’s not, the video is actually for video chatting.

Amazingly, HCL put a 1 GHz processor in this device together with 512 MB DDR3 RAM which we believe would be enough to make every student’s experience smoother and eventually make learning easier. While it only has 4 GB internal memory, it has a microSD slot supporting up to 32 GB card just in case a student wants to put more files in it. With Android 4.0.3 ICS it it, this tablet really poses a great threat to other tablet priced as low. As far as connectivity is concerned, HCL ME U1 Android tablet is capable of connecting through Wi-Fi and 3G. There is a need for a USB Dongle whenever a student connects to the Internet via 3G network. It has a considerably large battery for its size. An Li-Ion standard battery with 3600 mAh can power this device up to 8 hours of continuous use and that’s too much power considering a student will have to power it down when not needed.

The good thing about this device is that it is pre-loaded with 17 applications covering games, jobs, music, social networking, and more necessary applications that could reinforce students’ learning capabilities.
