By that, we mean that you must know how to enable the root access of your device and you must also know how to flash a custom theme or ROM.

In this guide, we will teach you how to root your LG Optimus 3D P920. But before anything else, we would like to give credit to ManBearPig69 of XDA Developers. For without him and his effort, we won’t be able to give you this easy guide and you won’t be able to root your phone. Plus, you will also get a couple of goodies that you can use or apply on your rooted smartphone.

Disclaimer: We are not responsible for your actions. Root your phone at your own risk. You should always bear in mind that rooting could brick your phone. You should not proceed if you are hesitant to take the risks. Better ask for help. In addition, we would like to warn you that you will eventually void your phone’s warranty.

Important Reminders:

This guide is only applicable if you have an LG Optimus 3D P920 with Android Gingerbread.

Always remember to keep a backup of your important files such as your SMS messages, phone contacts, images, music files, video files, etc.

Check your handset’s battery and see to it that it is fully charged. If not, at least make sure that its minimum power level won’t go any lower than 80 percent.

You also need to disable your phone’s Anti-Virus and Security apps (if applicable). You should do the same for your Windows-based computer. *Note: This process won’t work on Mac.

Instructions:

Carefully follow the step-by-step guide below. Do not skip any step to avoid trouble.

Step 1: Download the Rooting Package for LG Optimus 3D P920 from Vulnfactory.org (credits to Dan Rosenberg). You can download the source file from this link. Save the file to your computer.

Step 2: Ensure that you have enabled your phone’s USB Debugging mode. Go to Settings > Applications > Development then check the box next to the USB Debugging option.

Step 3: Using your preferred file extracting client (WinRaR, WinZip, etc.), extract the rooting package and save to a specific location. Open the folder called “megatron_windows” and see to it that you have connected your phone to your computer via USB data cable. Make sure that you have disabled your phone’s mass storage mode.

Step 4: As soon as you’re done, run the application called “adb” and wait for a few seconds. After you have installed the adb file, click on the windows batch file.

Step 5: Hit or press ANY key then wait for a few minutes for the rooting process to complete.

That’s it! By doing so, you will be able to root your LG Optimus 3D. And if ever you are interested to get your phone running on a particular custom firmware, you can directly go to ManBearPig69’s official XDA thread to see his list of custom kernels and ROMS.
