The Ice Cream Sandwich, aka the Android 4.0 is starting to slowly arrive on smartphones and tablet PCs and I stress on the slow as it is taking them a long time to get to the phones. Manufacturers like LG will be sending Ice Cream Sandwich Updates only after the second quarter of the year while the Samsung Galaxy Nexus tastes raw Google OS with the Ice Cream Sandwich since December! For those of you, who fall under the category of “impatient”, let me tell you that Custom ROMS are the shit! To get the latest version of the Android OS (on the Samsung MyTouch 4G Slide), i.e. the Ice Cream Sandwich, custom ROMs are the solution.
If you are a Samsung MyTouch 4G Slide owner, then here is your chance to taste the beauty of the Ice Cream Sandwich OS, but however it will come with a lot of problems as the OS is not complete yet. As of now, the camera, the accelerometer, US storage, tethering, LED notifications, FM Radio and keyboard light are not YET working with the custom ROM version of the Ice Cream Sandwich, but however everything else works like a charm with some minor glitches here and there.
Considering the fact that it is from AOSP code, you could expect the ROM to be pretty stable and clean! You will be able to use the basic needs of your phone and will also be able to experience an almost complete version of the Android 4.0. If you are a proud owner of a MyTouch 4G Slide, then you can get rid of that eagerness to taste out that new Google OS, that is the Ice Cream Sandwich!
