In our previous post, you have learned the steps on how to root Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi Only tablet. Now that you have successfully rooted your slate, it is time for you to learn how to update your Motorola XOOM to Android 4.0.3 ICS. Do keep in mind that this procedure can only be applied to the Wi-Fi Only version of the Motorola XOOM tablet.
But before we proceed to the tutorial proper, we would like to remind you that you need to keep a backup of your important data such as your phone contacts, sms messages, videos, photos, etc. Also, this isn’t the official version of the Android 4.0.3 ICS firmware. Thus, if you want to have this running on your slate, you must be aware of the potential risks and that you may lose your tablet’s warranty.
If you still dare to do this, then simply follow the set of instructions that we have listed below.
Step 1: Download the ICS Android 4.0.3 AOSP Build Package and Save to your computer.
Step 2: Download the Google Apps Package and Save to your computer.
Step 3: Using a USB data cable, connect your tablet device to your PC.
Step 4: Move the downloaded files from Step 1 and Step 2 to your tablet’s SD Card. Make sure that you keep the files in their original formats. Do not create any sub-folders for these files.
Step 5: Boot your slate to Recovery Mode. You can do this by holding the Volume Down button while the Motorola logo is being shown in the normal boot mode.
Step 6: In Recovery Mode, choose ‘Flash Zip from SD card’ then select ‘Choose Zip from SD card’. Locate the ICS Zip file that you have downloaded from Step 1.
Step 7: Wait until the installation completes. The rooting process will update your slate to Android 4.0.3 ICS.
Step 8: Again, choose ‘Flash Zip from SD card’ then select ‘Choose Zip from SD card’. Locate and select the Google Apps Zip file.
Step 9: Select ‘++++ Go Back ++++’ to select the option of ‘reboot system now’. This will reboot your tablet.
We can’t guarantee that you won’t be able to encounter any bugs or glitches. But if you have followed the instructions correctly, then you will eventually get your slate running on Android 4.0.3 ICS.

Will this process void warranty like rooting?
