Three big consumer electronic events have already passed this year but the long-rumored Sony Pepper MT27i seems to be a ‘no-show’. Maybe, it’s not yet ready and it wants to go out in public without any flaws. But guess what? What we have here is something that could help ease your anxiety as we do know that you’re eagerly waiting for the phone’s official launch.
Just so you know the smartphone’s complete name isn’t Sony Pepper but Sony Xperia Pepper MT27i. It will basically be part of Sony Mobile’s ever-growing family of Xperia handsets and it will go alongside with the Sony Xperia U, Sony Xperia P and Sony Xperia S. The Sony Pepper may not be as powerful as the other three but it will definitely take pride of its decent and reliable features and specs. On top of that, we have recently spotted the said smartphone in a leaked press shot. If you can still recall, we have reported the Sony Pepper MT27i along with the Sony Kumquat ST25i that we know call as the Sony Xperia U. The said press shot was taken from an unpublished yet official website of Sony Corporation China. And if you take a close look at the phone’s leaked image, you will eventually see that it sports the same unibody design as the other three Xperia handsets. Even so, it apparently lacks the transparent element that will glow upon the receipt of new notifications, calls and messages. The smartphone flaunts its black and white casing with three virtual buttons that can be used to navigate through the phone’s wide selection of widgets and apps.
If we speak of features and specifications, the Sony Xperia Pepper MT27i appears to be the official successor of the Sony Xperia Neo V. It may not be powered by Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but it can still take pride of its Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. Sadly, we do not know if there’s any plan to upgrade the phone’s firmware to Android ICS. Eventually, we will know when the right time comes. The smartphone will most likely be powered by a dual core 1GHz processor. Thus, we won’t be surprised if it would be offered as a mid-ranged Android handset with not so impressive features and specifications. But look on the brighter side, there’s a higher chance for it to be sold for a very affordable cost.
Furthermore, the Sony Xperia Pepper MT27i will also flaunt its 3.7 inch FWVGA capacitive touchscreen Display with 16M colors and 480 x 854 pixels of full screen resolution. That’s decent enough to allow you to view your images apart, of course, from streaming your favorite YouTube videos. The smartphone can also take pride of its 5 mega pixel rear facing camera with auto focus, geo-tagging, LED flash and 3D Sweep Panorama, 720p HD quality video recording with continuous auto focus and video lighting, front facing VGA camera, HTML5 Browser with Adobe Flash, 16GB of internal storage and 1GB RAM.
As of now, there’s no clear word that could somewhat hint the phone’s official date of launch. From what we’ve heard, there’s a possibility for it to be made available sometime within next month.
