Budget tablets anyone? How about a Skytex SkyPad Omega or a Skytex SkyPad Argos? You’ll definitely be delighted to know that these two new slates will not only be released with Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but will also be sold for as low as $199. There’s no clear word as to when these tablets will be officially released but we did hear that both the Omega and the Argos will hit the shelves sometime within this Q2 of 2012.
The Skytex SkyPad Omega will be flaunting its 8 inch 1024 x 768p capacitive 5-point multi touch display alongside with its 1GHz of Single Core chip, integrated Mali 400 Graphics, 1080p of HD video playback and up to 8GB of built-in storage. The Skytex SkyPad Argos, on the other hand, will be equipped with a 7 inch 1024 x 600p display. Just like the SkyPad Omega, the tablet will also be equipped with the same features and specifications.
Apart from the display size, one can easily distinguish the SkyPad Omega from the SkyPad Argos. That’s because the former will be sporting a removable battery which is quite favourable especially at times that you need to replace your slate’s faulty power cell. Meanwhile, the Argos tablet flaunts a removable back plate that you can easily customize according to your preferred style or color.
In addition, a working prototype of the Skytex SkyPad Argos was showcased at the recently held 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. The slate performed pretty well despite of its low-cost impression. However, Skytex did not reveal any prototype model for the SkyPad Omega. All we know is that the tablet is still at its design stage.
Ever since the release of the Kindle Fire, more and more companies were inclined to produce their own line of budget-friendly tablets. Thus, if ever you decide to get one, you need to be sure that you will be getting the one that won’t just throw your money out to the garbage can.
