Guess what? You can now upgrade your Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket to Android 2.3.6. The OTA update has just been rolled by AT&T and you might as well check yours by going to Menu > Settings > Software Update > Check for Updates. Sadly, we can’t really tell if there’s something new about this Android 2.3.6. But we do know that it will somehow correct that bug that’s been lurking within your phone’s Google Voice Search. We will tell you more about the changes once we get the info.
If this is your first time to hear about this phone, then allow us to tell you that it’s a new model of Android smartphone. The handset made its long-awaited debut last November 6 and can now be availed at AT&T. The phone can take pride of its high-speed 4G LTE network. Its Visual Voicemail can allow you to see a list of your voicemail messages while you get to pick the ones that you want to keep.
Moreover, the phone packs a lot of interesting features that can truly spark your curiosity. It flaunts a classy black form factor with a dimension of 5.15 x 2.75 x 0.37 inch. It weighs 4.66 oz and it sports a 1.5GHz Dual-Core chip. The handset has a brilliant 4.5 inch Super AMOLED Plus 800 x 480p Display and it can store a range of files inside its 16GB Internal Memory. Unused files can be stored in its external Micro SD Memory Card provided that it doesn’t go beyond 32GB. Snap shots can be taken using the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket’s 8 mega pixel rear-facing camera while video calls can be initiated using its 2 mega pixel front-facing camera. Plus, you will have a complete access to the Android Market as you browse through its wide selection of apps.
The no-contract version of the Skyrocket smartphone can be purchased for 589.99 USD.

The 2.3.6 update bricked my phone. A system reset seems to have straightened it out. I took it to the att store and there was another customer with the same issue. Oddly, after the reset, it says I’m still running 2.3.6 but the kernel is the same version as a skyrocket running 2.3.5.
Strange. I’m not getting the update.
