More details have emerged today on the hotly anticipated new AT&T mobile, the Nokia Ace. It has been announced that as expected Nokia’s primary Windows mobile of 2012 will indeed be the Lumia 900. What may come as a shock to some however is that the Lumia 900 will be equipped with Mango as opposed to the Tango build of WP7 that some had previously reported.
The announced specs on offer are a little bit less surprising with a standard WVGA display coming in at 4.3 inches, 512mb of RAM and the mobiles power requirement being handled by a 1830mah battery. Those focused on photographic capability will also be pleased by the announcement that the Nokia Lumia 900 will come equipped with a generous eight mega pixel camera.
T Mobile fans will be pleased to hear that although the handset will be initially locked into using AT&T, the required 1700mhz band necessary for T Mobile 3G compatibility will be included. While a carrier independent variety is always a little bit too much to ask for these days when it comes to Nokia devices, the inclusion of said functionality ensures that a workaround should easily be found.
Upon release, comparisons will of course be made between the Nokia Lumia 900 and it’s predecessor, the Nokia Lumia 800. As illustrated above, serious improvements have been made in terms of the specifications on offer but it does appear that said improvements will come at the cost of a slightly heavier device.
The increased weight will culminate in an additional eighteen grams in your pocket but thankfully, dimensions wise, both mobiles appear identical with the Lumia 900 still just twelve millimetres wide. Regular readers of this blog can expect more details very soon as CES is now just one week away.
