Nokia Lumia 800 vs HTC Titan – Windows Phone Showdown!

If you are reading this comparison then it is safe to say that you are interested in the Windows Phone OS. The HTC Titan is the biggest phone running the Windows Phone OS while the Nokia Lumia 800 is more of a commercially known device that everyone thinks of when the topic of “Windows Phone OS” comes into mind. The Nokia Lumia 800 is surely not the best phone running on the WP7.5 OS and we would like to prove it to you by pitting the Nokia Lumia 800 against the HTC Titan. This Nokia Lumia 800 vs HTC Titan comparison will help you make up your mind on which phone you would rather spend your hard earned money on!

Nokia Lumia 800 vs HTC Titan

For those impatient buggers out there, i would say that i would rather go for the HTC Titan than go for the Nokia Lumia 800 for various reasons. But hey, that’s just me! After reading the comparison between these two game changing devices, you will have a clear idea about your decision. But before that, i would also like to note that the Nokia Lumia 800 is not a bad performer and i do not hate the phone for any personal reason but maybe because of a couple of facts. What are they? Lets find out!

Design & Screen:

On the design front, both of these devices are beautiful in their own respective ways! The HTC Titan is like a big handsome and muscular guy wearing an expensive Armani suit whereas the Nokia Lumia 800 is like a vibrant and young lad wearing a crisp party jacket. You get the picture right? So anyway, the HTC Titan features a massive 4.7″ WVGA S-LCD display with resolutions of 480 x 800 pixels with a good amount of pixel density. The screen is pretty vibrant, the colors look gorgeous and the contrast is just right. One could fall for HTC Titans screen! The Nokia Lumia 800 on the other hand features a clearblack AMOLED screen which beats the HTC Titans screen quality indeed, but when you compare the size differences, you could do a lot with the 4.7 inch display! Sadly all Windows Phone devices run only on a 480 x 800 pixel resolution and that might change with the Apollo update.

Internal Hardware:

Sadly both the devices comes with a single core processor and the reason behind this is because even with the single core processor, the Windows Phone OS still performs beyond necessary. Dual core processors will begin Windows Phone production once the Apollo update is released. The Lumia comes with a 1.4 GHz processor with a Qualcomm chip and is paired a 512 MB of RAM.while the HTC Titan comes with a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon and is also paired with a 512 MB of RAM. On the basis of performance, you can expect the Titan to perform slightly better but don’t expect that much of a gap.

Camera:

Nokia is known for their phone cameras and as they always impressed, you might expect the Lumia 800s to be pretty great too, but it falls a bit short when it comes to expectations as we had hoped for a camera that performed like the N8, but came up slightly lesser in quality. But a pretty good camera indeed when compared to most of the competition. Does that competition include the Titan? The picture quality was impressive in both, but the Carl Zeiss lens in the Lumia 800 might have given away the title to the Finnish device. The Titan comes with a 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash while the Lumia also comes with an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash. But what makes the HTC Titan more desirable is the fact that it comes with a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera while the Nokia doesn’t even have a VGA camera in front.

Battery & Storage:

Battery life is one of the main factors why most people dont go for the Nokia Lumia 800 as they dont seem to last long as the competition. The Nokia Lumia 800 comes only with a 1450 mAh Li-Ion battery while the HTC Titan comes with a bigger 1600 mAh Li-Ion battery that does a pretty good job in lasting a day even with constant heavy usage. For me, this was one of the deciding factors that would allow me to go for the HTC Titan rather than the Nokia Lumia 800.

Storage is limited to the internal memory unit as there is no slot for a microSD card for both the devices. By tweaking your phone, you will however be able to boost your internal storage upto 32GB on the Titan! However, i am not so sure about the Nokia Lumia 800. Both of these devices come with an inbuilt 16GB of storage which I found to be pretty generous.

Conclusion:

Both of these devices are similar when you compare them on the basis of performance! But the HTC Titan does indeed provide a couple of extra features like the front facing camera, the generous and beautiful 4.7 inch screen, etc.. The Nokia Lumia also has its own advantages like the AMOLED screen, the sexy uni-body design, Nokia featured apps and for many, that small 3.7 inch screen might be appealing. Identify the smartphone priorities and you will automatically know which one you would want.
