How To Root the Droid Razr: Step By Step Instructions


Most of us have heard about the Motorola Droid RAZR. We know that it is a sturdy smartphone that packs a lot of great features and that it can’t be easily damaged by unintentional scrapes and falls. But there are others who aren’t quite satisfied with the phone’s overall performance and functions. They want to unlock the handset’s full potential and that can only be done by those who are brave and knowledgeable enough to root their own phones.

And speaking of which, here’s a step-by-step process on how to root the Motorola Droid RAZR. But before you do so, you have to remember that you will be risking the functionality and warranty of your handset. And if you fail, you will be left with no other choice but to buy a new phone.

To root the Droid RAZR, you will need to follow the steps below :

1. Download and Install the Motorola Drivers for Microsoft Windows. It can work on 32-bit and 64-bit systems but not on other platforms.

2. Download the DooMLoRD v2 ROOT (DooMLoRD v2 ROOT zergRush busybox su.zip) zip file and extract the contents to your PC. It is recommended that you save the file in your desktop.

3. Go to your Droid RAZR’s home screen. Select the Menu button and enable USB debugging. You can do this by going to Settings > Applications > Development.

4. Connect the smartphone into your computer and select ‘Charge Only’ from the notifications drawer.

5. Navigate through the unzipped DooMLoRD file (refer to Step 2) and click the runme.bat file.

6. Allow your phone to reboot.

Once done, the newly rooted Motorola Droid RAZR can be fully customized according to your preferred themes and settings. You will also have the ability to access the phone’s locked features. The rooted Droid RAZR will be running on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread.
