It’s almost been a year since the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500 was officially launched in the market. If you can still recall, the tablet originally ran on Android 3.1 Honeycomb. With the advent of Ice Cream Sandwich, it’s quite expected that you’d wish for an upgrade in your slate’s firmware version.

And speaking of which, we’re here to teach you how to do so. What we have here is custom ROM called CyanogenMod 9 that’s based on Android 4.0.1 ICS. If you do want to flash this firmware into your tablet, be aware of the potential risks and damages. Also, don’t expect that you’ll have a functional camera for taking photos. Just like what we always remind you, flash at your risk. If you still dare to do so, scroll down for the actual instructions.

Step 1: Assuming that you have already rooted your tablet, don’t forget to create a backup of your important files and messages. Also, do see to it that your slate’s battery level doesn’t go any lower than 70%.

Step 2: Enable the USB Debugging Mode on your tablet by going to Settings > Applications > Development. Check the box that corresponds to the USB Debugging option.

Step 3: Download the CyanogenMod 9 Firmware Zip Package at this link and the Google Apps Package. Save both files to your computer. Now, connect your tablet to your computer via USB cable. Copy the files to the root directory of your slate’s SD card.

Step 4: Disconnect your slate from your PC then turn it off. Reboot to recovery mode by pressing the Volume Up key while holding the Power ON button.

Step 5: In recovery mode, select ‘wipe cache partition’ and wipe data / factory reset’. This will clear all the cached files in your tablet.

Step 6: Select ‘install zip from sd card’ then ‘choose zip from sd card’. Locate and select the file for the CyanogenMod 9 Firmware and wait for at least 5 – 6 minutes for it to be fully installed. Repeat this step for the Google Apps Package.

Step 7: You will then be taken back to recovery mode. Select ‘++++ Go Back ++++’ then choose ‘reboot system now’ to reboot your Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7500. That’s it!

If you don’t have any knowledge about rooting and flashing ROMs, better ask the help of those who knows.
