If you’re the type who knows how to make the most out of your smartphone, then you won’t be too surprised to hear about the new touch-based version of ClockworkMod Recovery. Yes, this tool is a spin-off of the ever popular CWM tool for advanced Android users and you will basically need one to get your handset running on custom themes and ROMs. But unlike the original recovery tool, the touch-based version won’t make use of your phone’s volume rocker. Instead, you will be browsing your recovery menu through your phone’s touchscreen and you can easily select an option by tapping your finger on a particular selection.

As a matter of fact, we have already released a guide on how to install the touch-based ClockworkMod Recovery tool on the Asus Transformer Prime TF201. Now, it’s time for us to teach you how to install the tool on your Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket smartphone. However, this tool can only be applied on the AT&T (SGH-I727) and Rogers’ (SGH-I727R) version of the handset. Do not even try to install this tool on any other models.

But before we teach you how to do so, do consider the conditions and precautions that we have listed below:

–> You must have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket smartphone and a Windows-based computer.

–> You also need to back up your phone’s important data such as your SMS messages, phone contacts, call logs, photos, music and videos.

–> Check your phone’s battery and make sure that its power level won’t go any lower than 80 percent. Better yet, see to it that it’s fully charged.

–> Make sure that you have the appropriate phone drivers installed on your computer and you have disabled all of your Anti-virus and Security suites. Also, you will need to disable the Samsung KIES on your computer.

–> Download the Odin3 1.85 source file along with the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery Tool for the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. Save both files to your computer.

Assuming that you have accomplished the needed pre-requisites, feel free to proceed:

Step 1: Unzip the Odin3 Package to a specific folder on your computer. After which, double-click the said executable file.

Step 2: Plug the USB data cable to your computer but do not connect your phone yet. Instead, turn off your Galaxy S2 Skyrocket.

Step 3: Place your phone to download mode. For the AT&T model, hold the Volume Up and Volume Down keys as you plug your phone to the other end of the USB data cable. Release the keys as soon as you see the download mode screen. Press the Volume Up key to go to download mode. For the SGH-I727R (Rogers) model, hold the Volume Down key as you plug your device to the other end of the USB data cable. Press the Volume Up key to go to download mode.

Step 4: Wait for your device to be recognized. You will be able to know this because the ID: COM section in your Odin3 will turn yellow. The next thing that you’re going to do is to click the PDA button. Locate and select the “recovery-clockwork-touch-” file. Click Start.

Step 5: Wait until the flashing process is complete. You’ll know this because the upper leftmost box in the Odin3 window will turn green.

Step 6: Your phone will automatically reboot. Wait until you see the Samsung logo screen before you disconnect your phone from your computer. That’s it!
