We know that a lot of you are longing to taste the features of Google’s newest Android flavour. But, of course, you will have to face the bittersweet taste of reality. Oh well, at least you can still manage to upgrade your Dell Streak 7’s firmware to Android Ice Cream Sandwich thanks to DJ_Steve’s custom ICS ROM.

That’s right! There’s a new custom Android 4.0.3 ROM in town and it is now available for download. Even so, you will have to keep in mind that the firmware is a custom BETA build that may contain a bunch of bugs and errors. It’s really up to you if you opt to download the ROM. But before you say no, allow us to tell you that this build will get you a CyanogenMod Trebuchet UI and you will most likely be able to use your slate’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection. Just expect some lags and you won’t be able to use your tablet’s 5MP snapper for quality photos.

To get your Dell Streak 7 tablet running on a custom build of Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, you will be required to download the ROM file and you must install the NVFlash drivers on your slate. Furthermore, you must set your device to NVFLASH mode before you unzip and install the custom ROM. Simply go to this to download the custom Android ICS ROM.

It’s been almost a year since the Dell Streak 7 was officially launched. Too bad, Dell pulled the slate out from its list of available products. Still, one can say that the tablet can indeed take pride of its 7 inch Gorilla Glass touch screen. As for those who luckily managed to grab the slate, do tell us if you did get it running on Android 4.0.3 ICS without any errors. We’re looking forward to read your responses at the comments section.
