Hey, would you like to upgrade your Tablet’s firmware to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich? If you do, then allow us to tell you that you no longer need to wait for an official firmware update. All that you need to do is to download a custom ICS firmware. In this particular case, we have a Pre-Alpha build of the ICS-based CyanogenMod 9 (CM9) ROM that you can use to upgrade your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
But before you jump out of joy, you should know that this build can only be applied to the Wi-Fi Only model (GT-P7510) of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Like any other pre-alpha builds, do expect that you won’t be able to use your slate’s camera. Still, if you are an intrepid Android user and you can’t wait to taste the new features of Google’s latest Android firmware, you can hit this link. Again, we would like to remind you that we cannot guarantee that you won’t get your tablet bricked. Flash at your own risk. We are not liable for any damage that could happen to your slate during or after the installation. Better ask for help if you know nothing about custom ROMs.
It’s been quite a while since the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was released in public. The slate originally ran on Android 3.0 Honeycomb. It may not be the first slate to be powered by Honeycomb but it can definitely take pride of impressive specs such as its 10.1 inch PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen with 800 x 1280 pixels of full screen resolution. But that’s not all. You can also rely on the slate’s 1GHz Dual Core Cortex A9 Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset that goes alongside with its 3.15MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 1GB of RAM, 16GB – 32GB – 62GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, ULP GeForce Graphics and HTML Browser with Adobe Flash support.
