Want a new slate for Christmas? Yet, you still can’t make up your mind. But what if we tell you now that Coby has just announced the upcoming availability of its new family of slates that will be powered by Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform?
That’s right! Coby stated in its recent press release that it will be unveiling the said tablets at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. But what’s even more exciting to know is the fact that there will be a total of five Android 4.0 ICS tablets to choose from and all of these slates will be equipped with Android 4.0.
Sadly, the company did not give any specific detail about the pricing. But as far as we know, the tablets will most likely be loaded with similar specs. The smallest one will be dubbed as the MID7042 Internet Tablet and will be sporting a 7 inch multi-touch capacitive display while the 8 inch MID8042 and the 9.7 inch MID9742 slates will showcase their 4:3 aspect ratios. Add to that the 9 inch MID9042 and the 10 inch MID1042 internet tablets.
Specs wise, the new Coby tablets will be running on a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU. The slates will also be equipped with 1GB of RAM and can store up to 32GB of expandable storage. The company also claims that these new slates can be used for wireless web browsing via Wi-Fi connection. You can also take advantage of the slate’s built-in HDMI output. Thus, you can easily stream the movies from your slate to your HDTV at high-quality 1080p HD resolution. The tablets will also allow you to browse through their wide selection of widgets, games and applications.
We really hope to hear more about these new Coby slates. For now, we are left with no other choice but to wait until next year. At least Coby did confirm that the slates can be availed at ‘incredible prices’ starting this Q1 of 2012.
