Sony gave an answer to Apple’s iPod touch at the CES 2012 by unveiling its new Z series Walkman. This new walkman from Sony is a union of stylish hardware with Android 2.3 OS. The wide 4.3 inches touch-screen has an 800 x 480 resolution and the device surely has outstanding audio output quality and thus was mentioned by Sony as the “ultimate mobile entertainment experience”.
The walkman includes a feature called the SenseMe channels which senses your mood and quickly creates a playlist according to it. The walkman uses S-Master MX digital amplification technology to reduce noise distortion, has a Clear Bass, Clear Stereo, Clear Phase and also DSEE high frequency restoration technology. To comply with all this Sony offers a pair of 13.5 mm EX-HP in-ear type headphones that are really good as compared to those of your iPod.
The Walkman Z would be available in the market in the first half of the year. It comes in a single Black color with a slightly purplish back. It would be available in three capacity categories that are :
- 8GB ($249)
- 16GB ($279)
- 32GB ($329)
The very first MP3 player from Sony that is backed by an Android OS, it can be used to browse the internet or check your e-mails and more with its built in Wi-Fi. The Sony Cloud network will provide access to a library of over 10 million songs to listen to accompanied by a heavily customized music player. The Sony Walkman Z is a fully acknowledged Google product and supports all the features of the Android market, Gmail, books, maps and many more applications. It also provides a better sync as compared to the iPod and thus Windows media player can be used to transfer music and other stuff in the Walkman.
