Coby, a company known for its wide selection of budget-friendly tablets, unveiled its newest line of Android 4.0 powered slates at the 2012 CES. Well, we aren’t surprised and we aren’t expecting much from these new breed of tablets. Even so, it is quite good to know that Coby did manage to take advantage of Google’s latest Android platform.

Furthermore, do expect that you will be able to choose among its wide range of Ice Cream Sandwich powered slates. There are a total of five Coby internet tablets to choose from. There’s the 7 inch Coby MID7042 internet tablet, the 8 inch Coby MID8042 internet tablet with 4:3 aspect ratio, the 9 inch MID9042, the 9.7 inch MID9742 with 4:3 aspect ratio and the 10 inch Coby MID1042.

Specs wise, all of these units will be running on a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 Processor. Regardless of the display size, the slates can take pride of their capacitive multi-touch screens, 1GB of RAM, up to 32GB of expandable memory, 1080p of HDMI output and built-in Wi-Fi. The specs aren’t that impressive and you can say that these tablets are meant for those who are currently looking for a budget-friendly slate. We can’t also tell whether these tablets will come with a built-in snapper on the front and rear. From what we have heard, these tablets will hit the market this first quarter but the official date of release remains unannounced.

And before we forget, the slates will also be equipped with micro SD card slots, micro USB ports and 3.5mm headphone jacks. There’s no support for Bluetooth and you will have no other choice but to transfer your files via the good old USB connection. In case you want to check out the slates at the CES, you can look for Coby’s booth (#12027) that’s located inside the Las Vegas Convention Center Central Hall.
