Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime: First Quad Core Tegra 3 Super Tablet Specs & Price Announced!

It is common to see a range of standard-looking slates in the tablet market. But it is quite uncommon for a tablet to be released with a super sleek body that can be docked into a detachable multi-touch touchpad. Well, you might think that there isn’t such a tablet. But guess what? It seems that Asus would be defying the conventionality of our so-called slates. That’s right! The Taiwan-based multinational computer company announced the upcoming availability of its next-generation tablet.

Asus Transformer Prime

Dubbed as the Asus Transformer Prime, the Eee Pad Transformer successor will be released as a high-end ‘Super tablet’. It will flaunt its sturdy 10.1 inch Super IPS Corning Gorilla Glass Display with 1280 x 800p screen resolution along with its NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad Core Processor. It will also be showcasing its built-in MicroSD card reader, 1GB of LP DDR2 Memory, 32GB-64GB of internal storage + Asus WebStorage, 8 mega pixel f2.4 rear facing camera, 1.2 mega pixel front facing camera, micro HDMI, GPS, Gyroscope, Compass, G-Sensor, 3.5mm audio in/out connector, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.

Apart from the above specs, the 586g Transformer Prime can take pride of its thinner frame. It’s no less than 8.9mm thin and can basically be considered as an upgraded version of the Eee Pad Transformer slate. But despite its outstanding looks and features, it will still be powered by Android 3.2 Honeycomb. But the company did announce that it will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich via FOTA update.

There’s no specific date as to when this slate will be released. But there are reports stating that it could be out in time for the Holidays. And if you opt to get one, the Asus Transformer Prime Super tablet can be availed in two designs: Champagne Gold and Amethyst Gray. The 32GB version will be sold for 500USD while the 64GB will be sold for 600USD. The optional keyboard dock will be sold for a separate price of 150USD.
