No doubt about it. This year will certainly be filled with lots of Budgets Friendly tablets. Some of them like the ZTE Optik can be yours for less than a hundred. Of course, you can expect that most of them will be running on Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. But not all, there are still those that you can somehow call as outdated.
And speaking of which, A new tablet from Archos that remains to be loyal to Android Gingerbead. From what we have heard, the slate will be called as the Archos Arnova 8b G2. Now, we all know that Gingerbread is meant for smartphones and not for tablets. But that’s not the issue here. You see, there’s Android ICS and Honeycomb. Archos could have used the latter in its tablet. Anyways, it’s really up to you if you want to get one. Just allow us to tell you that the slate will be equipped with an 8 inch capacitive touchscreen that will go alongside with its 800 x 600 pixels of full screen resolution, 1GHz single core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB – 8GB of internal storage, micro SD card slot and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n. As expected, the slate won’t be equipped with any rear facing camera and you will just have to make the most out of its front facing webcam. At least, you can make a bunch of face-to-face chats.
As of now, there’s no official statement that could confirm the Archos Arnova 8b G2’s official date of availability. The price was not even mentioned but we have a hunch that it will be sold for less than $200. If that’s really the case, then we won’t mind getting one with Android Gingerbread. But if the slate will cost more than the Amazon Kindle Fire, we’d rather get the Ainol Novo 7 Elf with Android ICS.
