Archos 80 G9 Tablet Will Receive Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) Update From February 2012

As for those who are currently planning to get an Archos G9 tablet, it would be better if you wait for a few weeks more. Archos may have not told much about this but we did hear that the French electronics manufacturer will be updating the software of its ‘entire line’ of G9 slates that will then be followed by a release of its refreshed models with software and firmware upgrades. The star of the show will be Google’s latest Android operating system and that’s no other than the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Archos G9 Tablet

Back at the 2012 CES, Archos didn’t utter any particular time as to when the Android 4.0.3 ICS update will be released to the G9 slates. That isn’t the case now. We have found out that the said update will be sent out via over-the-air (OTA) and will hit your slates by the first week of February. The upgraded G9 models, on the other hand, will hit the shelves by the last week of next month. If you’re going to buy one now, there’s a big probability that you’d still be getting an Archos G9 that runs on Android 3.2 Honeycomb.

While you wait, you might as well pick the slate model that suits you most. As you can see, there’s a wide selection of Archos G9 slates that you can get for a very decent cost. The Archos 80 G9 flaunts its 8 inch display with 1024 x 768 pixels of full screen resolution while the Archos 101 G9 flaunts its large 10.1 inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels of full screen resolution. Regardless of the model, expect that you’ll be getting a slate that will be powered by a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor. Both models are Google certified. That means you can easily go to the Android Market as you get to browse for your favorite applications.
